Beautiful Maundy Thursday worship and meal
Written by Julie Blum
Our Maundy Thursday worship service included an optional footwashing experience and a huge potluck meal. The word "Maundy" comes from the latin word mandatum, meaning commandment. Maundy Thursday reminds us that on this night Jesus gave his disciples a new commandment: to love one another. It's was beautiful and meaningful worship service and we hope that you will join us next year. Here's some pictures from the evening.
On Palm Sunday some of our Sunday School children and their parents presented us with a great dance to the song Hosanna. They danced with palm branches and red ribbons. It was beautiful and extremely cute. See some pictures below.
On Sunday, December 20th we had an amazing Children's Christmas program with song, dance and MYSTERY! This year our program was titled “The Mystery of the Manger.” In this fun play, Jane Blonde, an investigative reporter for The Morning Star newspaper wants the facts . . . just the facts! Her questions and searching make headline news on Christmas morning. As she observes rehearsal for the Christmas Eve pageant, the children teach her through their songs that "Like the Wise Men" we're all searching for the truth, and that the gospel accounts of Jesus' life are "The Gospel Truth." In examining these facts from Scripture, we will discover the overwhelming proof that the baby born 2,000 years ago in that manger IS the Savior of the world. On November 1 we celebrated All Saints Day by writting the names of the Saints in our lives on slips of colorful paper. We then wove them together into one beautiful banner hanging in the sanctuary.

"Supper & Song" 2009
Written by Julie Blum
The last Wednesday in August we had a fun event called "Supper & Song" (we decided that sounded better than "Left overs & Lyrics" ) We invited the people who stay in our homeless shelter (in our church basement 365 days a year) to join "church folks" for a bbq and singing. About 60 people attended and we ate yummy food, then had a time of singing hymns and other songs. It was a perfect warm end of summer evening and we all had a great time getting to know each other better. Here are some pictures from the evening:
