Oktoberfest: Thank you PDF Print E-mail
Written by Julie Blum

Thanks to everyone who came out to the second annual Meadowbrook Oktoberfest!

This uber-fun event featured live music by the Smilin’ Scandinavians (Seattle’s No. 1 polka band), plus hearty bratwurst meals, strudel, local apple cider, and a beer garden serving Hale’s Ales and hard cider from Rockridge Orchards and Cidery. We’ll also had kids’ meals and activities, including cider press demonstrations. Local dance troupe the Regenbogen Schuhplattlers provided dancing demos. Here's some photos from the event:

Our third annual National Night Out was an evening full of fun, food and community.  We thank everyone who came out and participated in a spirit of unity and community to get to know one another better and to have some fun.  The food was yummy, the kids had fun activities, the music was good, and the Molly Moon ice cream truck was a big hit.  Mark your calendars and plan on being with us next year: Tuesday, August 2, 2011.

For the seventh year Maple Leaf Lutheran Church and our companion non-profit Meadowbrook Community Care has hosted the Lake City Holiday Project.  With cooperation from numerous agencies, companies, churches and individuals we are able to give gifts to over 700 low income children and families in need. It’s a huge undertaking and we always are looking for more volunteers. If you would like to help with our efforts next year please call the church office 524-2448. We start gearing up as early as the summer before Christmas. Thank you so much for all the people who helped to make it happen once again this year. You are amazing!  Here's some photo's of the project in action:

Trunk or Treat 2009 PDF Print E-mail
Written by Julie Blum
Thanks to everyone who helped with and came out for Trunk or Treat. A special thanks to Wedgwood Broiler who allows us to park in front of their restaurant. We had so many kids visit our trunks this year that we once again ran out of candy. We had guesses as high as 1000 for the number of kids we saw, but it was probably more like 600 or 700 kids, not to mention parents. Here's some pictures from the event:
