Our Maundy Thursday worship service included an optional  footwashing experience and a huge potluck meal.  The word "Maundy" comes from the latin word mandatum, meaning commandment.  Maundy Thursday reminds us that on this night Jesus gave his disciples a new commandment: to love one another.  It's was beautiful and meaningful worship service and we hope that you will join us next year.  Here's some pictures from the evening. 

On Palm Sunday some of our Sunday School children and their parents presented us with a great dance to the song Hosanna.  They danced with palm branches and red ribbons.  It was beautiful and extremely cute.  See some pictures below.

We also invite you to pray: O God, you bring good news to those who are despairing.  Help us to hear the cries of those who are enduring trials and suffering because of the earthquake in Haiti. Enliven all your children to respond with compassion, aid, and your care so that all may know the hope of your grace. Fill all people n need with the power of your Spirit. In the name of Christ, Amen.

For the seventh year Maple Leaf Lutheran Church and our companion non-profit Meadowbrook Community Care has hosted the Lake City Holiday Project.  With cooperation from numerous agencies, companies, churches and individuals we are able to give gifts to over 700 low income children and families in need. It’s a huge undertaking and we always are looking for more volunteers. If you would like to help with our efforts next year please call the church office 524-2448. We start gearing up as early as the summer before Christmas.
